Flowers and Flags

I see the flowers and flags... being placed inside the yard

Silent memory...quiet voices

I see them guarding the dead

I see the old man kneeling

Pulling weeds from the flowers and flags

I see the tears he doesn't want to shed

For the loss and for the dead

I see the small child standing

Among the flowers and flags

Wondering why Grandpa is crying

Wondering why he is sad

Today the sun is shining

Today good food will be had

Just don't forget the reason

For all of the flowers and flags

Thank you, and I did write it. Just thinking about it and wrote this down.

Lovely poem, Julie. Thanks for sharing.

BTW -- here's the answer to your question about who took the photo of me and Kay that's on my blog today -- I took it with my MacBook camera. Just pointed the monitor our way and pushed the button!

A prisoner of hope,
Megan

I am so glad you are writing again! It makes me feel a little leaky and also very proud.
This is a beautiful tribute.
